This vehicle is highly valued for several reasons. For starters, it is a classic offered by Ford in 1969 and 1970. It is a rare car with a very strong and desirable muscle. In fact, Ford produced only 499 Boss 429 Mustangs for the 1970 edition. The interior of the car was available in black, and black and white. The exterior colors available were Grabber Orange, Grabber Green, Grabber Blue, Calypso Coral, and Pastel Blue.
The transmission of the 1970 model was manual. The muscle car had an optional six-pack intake and carburetors. This was an extremely rare modification. Only two were sold with this option, which makes it difficult to know if this made any difference to the performance. Due to the size of the engine of this Mustang, no A/C was available. This was truly a powerful car with a focus on muscle and performance.
The origin of the Boss 429 Mustang comes from NASCAR. Ford wanted to develop a Hemi engine to compete against the then-famed 426 Hemi from Chrysler. After developing the engine, NASCAR required at least 500 cars with it to be sold to the general public. This is how the Boss 429 Mustang was born.
While the 1969 model´s engine had a hydraulic lifter camshaft, the 1970 model had a mechanical one. The dual exhaust system was also improved. The power output for both models was the same.
