We are looking at a transformation of the already race-proven YZ250 two-stroke motocross bike into an off-road bike. We believe that this is a great road taken by Yamaha for 2016. This is actually a huge reason to rejoice for off-road two-stroke lovers.
This is a motorcycle that delivers the two-stroke performance and is fairly lightweight. However, turning a moto crosser into an off-road is not really the most difficult part or most interesting feature. Actually, it has being done for several years already.
You can make this lightweight motorcycle yours starting at a price of $7390, which is not expensive if you consider all the cool specs and modifications made to this model to make it off-road. Plus, it is $100 less than its antecessor, the YZ250. Of course Yamaha does not abandon the concept for racing so this motorcycle is optimized for Hare Scrambles and GNCC® racing, among others.
To provide an excellent rigidity, flex, and a perfect balance, the YZ250X is built with an Ultra lightweight YZ250-spec frame in combination with aluminum castings, intrusions, and forgings. It is a motorcycle designed for performance.
In comparison to the YZ250 moto crosser with the front fender all the way through to the rear protector, the design has been changed. With an included set of Dunlop tires, this baby is ready to roll down the road and make some noise.
The design of this motorcycle is carefully made and revised by top engineers at the factory. It must be able to provide power, stability, and be light weight to make it more manageable.
The power valve of the YZ250X now opens at a 1500 RPM, while its antecessors opened at 500 RPM. There is a more linear power delivery.
The transmission of the YZ250X is a five speed with a wide-ratio design.
